NEWS AND EVENTS

Dates and events going forward are to be finalised, but to give you a flavour of what to look forward to:

  • 16 May - Coronation Bake Off - competition for families to enter, with prizes awarded for baking. Followed by an after school celebration to admire the prize winning bakes, and enjoy coffee and cake and music by Shap Band / Stephen Burke
  • May Half Term - Puzzle Trail around the village (self guided)
  • Summer Term - Ice Lolly Fridays will return!
  • Paper Quizzes throughout the year!

Recent events - our famous Big Breakfast returned!
We were delighted to raise nearly £900 from our Big Breakfast on the 11th March! It was well supported by parents, grandparents and the wider community, with the opportunity to enjoy breakfast and a cuppa with friends and family. The activities included crafts and big toys in the year for children, a raffle and a tombola.

Thanks to Sam Wood, parent of Oscar, who donated the eggs, Lakes and Dale Coop who provided £100 of vouchers towards the food, and the Westmorland Group who provided 100 sausages from their farm shop! We also had lots of raffle prizes donated from local businesses, and Teresa Martin, our school cook, baked an amazing Easter cake for the guess the weight of the cake competition. We're so grateful for everyone's support.

Special thanks also to Mrs Chappell and the other teachers who helped us to set up and on the day, as well as the parents who helped with washing up and waitressing.

You all become a Friend of Shap School when your child joins the school. Please do come along to the meetings and get involved with FoSS and our fundraising activities. If you can't make the meetings, please see Kim (Mum of Kayla), Val (Mum of Eden and Jessie) or Sarah (Mum of Thomas and Matthew) to get involved in other ways
