Blencathra Class were very grateful to Jean Jackson from Shap History Society for giving up her time to share stories, photos and information about Haweswater and Mardale. It was wonderful to see and hear these stories being shared so they aren't lost. Some of the children enjoyed sharing their family links about the area too.

The children also learnt lots about the Market Cross and Shap in the past, as well as finding out about the building of Haweswater dam and the village of Mardale. We then talked about the wonderful Wild Haweswater and what makes it so special today.
