Friction Investigation
As part our our learning on forces, we conducted an experiment into friction.
We learnt about what friction was and examples in everyday life (our shoes gripping the floor to stop us slipping, rubbing our hands together to create heat, how water resistance is also friction so boats moving through water creates friction!).
We learnt about how force meters can help us measure friction and that they use Newtons (N) as their unit of measurement. We then tested a toy car out on different types of materials to see which produced the most and least friction.
We had to do lots of problem-solving and scientific thinking to ensure our comparative and fair testing enquiry produced reliable data.
