Outdoor Learning - Anderson Shelter Building
Today's outdoor learning was linked to our World War 2 topic. We looked at different images of Anderson Shelters before beginning to work in small teams to build our own. We had planks of wood and cardboard. In our teams, we had to think carefully about how to make it secure. Unfortunately, one of our groups lost the roof of theirs, so they had to rethink, redesign and modify their plans. By the end of the session, all of us had a secure Anderson Shelter, we were proud of.
We also had a challenge to diffuse a bomb (balloon). In pairs, we were given our bomb (a balloon filled with water and wrapped in wool), we had to try and take the wool off carefully using two pencils without the bomb exploding (balloon popping). It was more challenging than we thought.
