Session 2 with Cumbria Wildlife Trust

This was another exciting session with Jamie.

We looked around our classroom to see what was made from wood, this moved the conversation on to where the idea of paper come from. We were very interested to know how wasps make paper from wood.

We then went on to work in teams to make a bird house, using our new tools. First we had to slot the pieces together, this proved tricky, as we had to hit parts carefully with a hammer and some even needed a bit sawing off the edge. Once the bird boxes had been slot together, we have to use nails to hammer the roof on. This all involved teamwork and following safety instructions, which we did really well.

Next, we thought about where we should put the bird boxes. Jamie was very good at getting us to think about where the boxes should go. Over the next week, we are going to think about where the bird boxes could go within our school grounds and then we are going to put them up during Jamie's next visit.
