Science - Exploring light
To introduce our light topic, we completed a quiz in teams to see what we already know about light. Some of the questions created some excellent scientific discussions and further questions that we would like to explore.
We then investigated that we need light to be able to see and that darkness is the absence of light. We used a blackout tent to see if we could see what was inside it, before using a torch (light source). We also used boxes with one small viewing hole to see what was inside the box. We soon learnt that you couldn't see anything. We knew we needed to get light into the box to see, so we thought about how we could do this and decided to make a number of holes in the top of the box. This allowed light from the light source to travel into the box, and we could then see the object.
