Carlisle Cathedral Trip
Year 5 went to visit Carlisle Cathedral as part of their involvement with the diocese's Growing Faith project. Lots of Year 5 children from different local, rural schools came along with us to experience the day. The children were mixed up so they could meet new people and took part in 3 different activities.
They had a tour of the cathedral learning about its history and how it is used today.
They learnt about the canons that lived just outside the cathedral. We had a go at re-creating some of their calligraphy artwork that they created when copying the Bible.
We went to visit the labyrynth and saw our school tile we decorated a couple of years ago. We thought about pilgrims on their journeys and how we are all on a journey too. We walked along the labyryth and collected a pilgrim badge and drew some pictures to represent our different journeys.
