Session 3 with Cumbria Wildlife Trust
Today, we concluded our work with Jamie from Cumbria Wildlife Trust.
This week, he brought in some binoculars and telescopes (like binoculars but with only one eyepiece) which he taught us how to use them correctly in the classroom, before going outside to explore with these. Once outside we used the binoculars to complete some bird spotting and also to look further into the distance. We loved being able to do this. He taught us how to identify and name different birds, we now know what the difference is between a crow and a blackbird.
Finally, we created some natural bird feeders to put up in the playground to help the birds over winter. To make the feeders, weused lard, bird seed and pine cones, it was very messy but the birds are going to love their new snacks.
We have been inspired by Jamie's work and we have so many good ideas and plans to continue working on to help the wildlife on and around our school grounds, as well as at home.
